Erica is a New York-based freelance multimedia journalist. She covers women’s basketball & hockey, and soccer for national outlets such as The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, and The Athletic. She is also the Hockey Friday writer for The IX Newsletter. Erica serves as a color analyst and rinkside reporter for the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL) and is a co-founder and host of the independent Founding 4 Podcast. In July, she launched Locked on Kraken, the daily podcast covering the NHL's 32nd team for the Locked on Podcast Network. Erica is volunteer for the Black Girl Hockey Club Get Uncomfortable campaign and has moderated several panels for the growing non-profit organization.

Now a full-time content marketer, her favorite way to spend her free time is freezing her toes off at various rinks.

Spencer is a graduate of Endicott College with a B.S. in Sport Management and Applied Mathematics (the first time that particular combination of majors had been attempted in school history), I spent two years as a volunteer statistician and video analyst for the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey program, and wrote his senior thesis, titled "Increasing Offensive Efficiency in NCAA Women's Ice Hockey" using data I collected during that timeframe. I've also worked as an independent data analyst for the St. Louis Blues and for the racing website MotorsportsAnalytics.com , and transitioned into managing the women's hockey coverage for the Bruins and Pride Diehards website/podcast. Currently, I have a particular focus on prospect development and systems analysis in the women's game.
